For the newcomer, McLean is an unincorporated community located in Fairfax County and includes a small geographic area along Chain Bridge Road in Arlington County. The community is named for John Roll McLean, the former publisher and owner of The Washington Post. According to the 2000 census, the total population was 38,929.
